Summary of House Rules Related to Conduct within the Clubhouse

2009 HOUSE RULES

The following are the rules for all members and guests. These rules will apply to everyone's conduct within the clubhouse. They are not the Bylaws of the Club. The rules are subject to amendment, revision or temporary suspension by the Board of Governors as deemed required. The rules are intended to enhance the enjoyment of those who use the Club. Any questions relating to the rules, interpretation or infractions of the rules should be forwarded in writing to the President or the House Committee Chair.

SOLICITATION IN THE CLUBHOUSE OR USE OF MEMBER INFORMATION TO SOLICIT IS PROHIBITED.

LIST OF CLUB MEMBERS is for Club use only.  It is not to be used for business or charitable purposes.

RESPECTFUL and COURTEOUS BEHAVIOR is expected of all members and guests within the Clubhouse.  Infractions should be reported to the President or the House Committee Chair for action.

If a member or guest has a problem with any employee, it should be reported to the General Manager. No member or guest is permitted to chastise any employee. If an employee has a problem and comes to a club member or Board Member, that employee should be directed to the GM.

The Board and GM reserve the right to decline to extend guest privileges and to refuse the admission of anyone to the Clubhouse.

COATS AND PACKAGES must be checked in the coatroom with the exception of coats and packages belonging to guests staying in the guest bedrooms. The WNRC is not responsible for personal property left in the coat check.

DRESS CODE: Members and their guests are required to be properly attired.

WOMEN may wear pantsuits or slacks, but, not jeans or similar informal attire. For example: permitted clothing for ladies shall include suits, dresses and skirts or tailored trousers with dress shirts, blouses or sweaters, but, shall not include casual sports wear.

MEN are required to wear a jacket in the building and a jacket and tie in the public rooms, i.e. -- Pub (main dining room and bar, the elevator lobby dinning room requires a jacket only), 4th Floor Lounge, Library and Lincoln Room. During July and August men are required to wear jackets in the Pub but no tie.

PROHIBITED CLOTHING in the Clubhouse: jeans, designer denim apparel and other denim clothing, shorts, capri, clam digger and cargo pants, t-shirts, halter-topped sportswear and bare middriff tops, mini-shirts or dresses, workout or warm-up suits, sport, beach or thong sandals and sneakers or other athletic shoes.

MEMBERS and GUESTS DRESSED in PROHIBITED CLOTHING shall enter and exit the club through the service entrance which is located to the right of the photo shop at the main entrance. Use the service elevator - exit and enter 1R.

NOT WITHSTANDING THE ABOVE on weekdays, members and guests checking into or out of guest rooms may pass through the lobby, to and from the elevator and the front door, wearing informal dress that includes no prohibited items, but after check-in and before check-out the balance of the rule applies in full.

The Club reserves the right, in its sole discretion to determine on a case by case basis, what is or is not appropriate attire.

TIPPING is not permitted by Members or Guests.  Members are requested to be generous to the employees through the Employee Christmas Fund.

SMOKING is not permitted within the Clubhouse or on the solarium terrace. Infractions will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

CELL PHONES and personal digital assistants must be set on vibrate and may not be used in public areas of the Clubhouse -- including all public rooms and corridors. If you need to have use of your cell phone for personal reasons, please, step out of the club to use your cell phone with the exception of guest use in the bedrooms and member use in the membership office.

THE PRATT LOUNGE is open 8:30am -- 8:00pm. The Library is open from 9:00am -- 5:00pm. The Pratt Lounge, the Library and the Lincoln room are reserved for Members only, unless these rooms are rented through the Banquet Office. Business meetings are not permitted in the Pratt Lounge.

LAPTOPS may be used in the Library and Lincoln Rooms if you are renting space.

PHOTOGRAPHY in the Clubhouse or use of WNRC event photos is not permitted at any time without prior written permission from the House Committee Chairman, the President or the General Manager.

FOOD and BEVERAGES may not be brought into the public rooms of the Club.

PRIVATE ROOMS for meetings and club events may be reserved by Members through the Club Membership Office.

PRIVATE ROOMS for non-club sponsored social events may be reserved through the Banquet Office.

MAXIMUM BEDROOM ACCOMMODATION STAYS:
A member may use the guest room accommodations for a maximum stay of three weeks. Guests may use a room for a maximum stay of two weeks. Guest may use a room for a maximum stay of two weeks. Charges for stays of more than one week are billed weekly and payable upon presentation.

CHECK OUT time is 12 Noon.  CHECK IN time is 3:00pm
The front door will be locked at 11:00pm. The Front Desk personnel will open the door after 11:00pm.

CANCELLATIONS must be made 24 hours prior to the day of arrival or shall be charged if the room is not booked. All reservations must be secured by credit card. No cash or checks will be accepted to secure the room or accepted when paying the bill on checkout.

PROBLEMS should be referred to the General Manager or the person acting for the GM when she is not on the premises. If there is a problem in your guest room, please notify the front desk.

NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS are accepted anywhere in the Club, including the Pub. Members' guests will be paid for by the member. Bedroom guests may charge to their room.  Exceptions to this rule are an event with a cash bar.

PETS other than service dogs are not permitted in the Clubhouse.

DAMAGE TO THE CLUB PROPERTY caused by a member or guests due to malicious or disorderly behavior shall be paid for by whom ever caused the damage

LOSS or DAMAGE or THEFT to any personal property is not the responsibility of the Club. Any property placed in or about any area of the Clubhouse shall be placed at the sole risk of the owner of such property. No employee of the Club is authorized to hold any property for safekeeping.

DUES, FEES, ASSESSMENTS AND CHARGES shall require payment prior to the end of the month of said billing. Past due accounts shall be charged a specific late fee. Payment may be made in person at the club or mailed in a timely manner. Additional penalties may be imposed by the Board of Governors.

MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE for advising their guests of any Club rule that relates to their presence at the Club.

PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERSHIP IN GOOD STANDING:
The privilege of staying, subject to the availability of accommodations, at the Clubhouse, preference in reserving any of the club's rooms, facilities or services with due regard to courtesy to guest and the interests and reputation of the Club.

The House Rules are taken seriously, The following steps can be taken by the Board of Governors, the President or the House Committee Chairman toward anyone breaking the rules:
             1. First infraction - verbal notice
             2. Second infraction - letter of warning
             3. Third infraction - 30 to 60 day membership suspension
             4. Fourth infraction - revocation of membership

The Clubhouse is a refuge in the heart of Manhattan for the enjoyment of our members. The members use the facilities to relax and to enjoy the exceptional activities, programs and dining offered. Observance of the House Rules insures that everyone's experience is pleasurable.  Thank you for your adherence and cooperation.
