Tuesday, February 10th, 6:00pm - The Third Monday Speaker Series presents former Gov. James Gilmore (VA). American Opportunity President and CEO, Jim Gilmore served as the 68th Governor of Virginia from 1998 until 2002. Gilmore gained national prominence during his campaign and governorship by advocating conservative policies that directly addressed the daily concerns of working men and women. In addition to serving as the 68th Governor of Virginia, Gilmore has chaired two prominent Congressional advisory panels: one created to assess the nation’s readiness to combat domestic terrorism, which led to the creation of the National Council on Readiness and Preparedness; the other panel created to study
taxation on internet commerce, which the panel opposed.

Wednesday, February 18th, 6:00pm - The Library Committee invites you to meet the author Ronald Kessler. Since publication of his New York Times bestselling book In the President’s Secret Service, awardwinning investigative reporter Ronald Kessler has continued to penetrate the wall of secrecy that surrounds the U.S. Secret Service, breaking the story that Secret Service agents who were to protect President Obama hired prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia and revealing that the Secret Service allowed a third uninvited guest to crash a White House state dinner. Now in The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents, Kessler presents far bigger and more consequential stories that are making headlines about our nation’s leaders—Republicans and Democrats—and the agency sworn to protect them. Kessler widens his scope to include presidential candidates and former presidents after they leave the White House. In particular, he focuses on first ladies and their children and their relationships with the presidents.
