Tuesday, February 4th, 6:00pm - The Library Committee invite you to Meet the Author "Donald Rumsfeld." Donald Rumsfeld attended Princeton University on scholarships and served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as an aviator, a flight instructor, and an instructor of flight instructors. He ended his service in the Naval Reserve as a Captain when he became Secretary of Defense in 1975. In 1957, he served as Administrative Assistant to a Congressman. He ran and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Illinois in 1962, at the age of 30. He was re-elected in 1964, 1966, and 1968. During his fourth term, he resigned to join President Nixon's Cabinet. In 1973, Mr. Rumsfeld left Washington, D.C. to serve as U.S. Ambassador to NATO in Belgium. He was called back to D.C. to serve as Chairman of the transition to the Presidency of Gerald Ford. He later became White House Chief of Staff and a member of the President's Cabinet. He served as the 13th U.S. Secretary of Defense, the youngest in the country's history (1975-77). Mr. Rumsfeld was awarded our country's highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.

Thursday, February 13th, 6:00pm - Third Monday Speaker featuring "Niger Innis." Niger Innis recently announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for Congress in Nevada's 4th District. Niger currently serves as the National Spokesman for the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and is the former Chief Strategist for TheTeaParty.net. He works closely with the National Chairman and represents CORE across the United States and around the world. In addition to his role with CORE and TheTeaParty.net Mr. Innis serves in the following capacities: Co-Chairman of the Affordable Power Alliance (APA), a coalition of Latino and African American ministerial organizations; Senior Citizen Advocates, which fights against public policies that raise energy and associated) costs; various Chambers of Commerce; Advisory Committee Project 21 for the National Center for Public Policy Research; Consultant to EEN247.com, Empowerment and Excellence cable channel; NRA Membership Committee and NRA lifetime member. In December 2012, Niger co-founded the New America organization with Julie Hereford, Victor Chaltiel, Carlo Maffat and Leo Bletnitsky
